What Causes Pain And Tingling On One Side Of Body After Getting Electrocuted?

I was pluging something into the outlet at work and got electrocuted. I immediately moved my right hand away. I had pain, tingling sensation and also numbness in my hand and arm on the right side. An hour later I feel pain and tigling sensation all on my right side: my hip, side, knee, foot, arm, and hand. Is this something I should get checked out? I feel like im getting worst, not better. Pain is becoming unbearable.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

It is important to seek medical attention immediately if you are experiencing pain and tingling on one side of your body after getting electrocuted, as it could indicate nerve damage or other serious injuries. An electrical shock can be very dangerous and potentially life-threatening. The electrical shock may have disrupted your nervous system, leading to the symptoms you are experiencing.

You should go to the nearest emergency room or urgent care center as soon as possible to be evaluated by a medical professional. The doctor will likely perform a physical examination and may order imaging tests, such as an X-ray or MRI, to determine the extent of your injuries.

In the meantime, try to avoid moving the affected side of your body as much as possible, and apply a cold compress to the area to help reduce any swelling or inflammation. It is important to rest and avoid any strenuous activities until you have been cleared by a medical professional.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
