Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was told I have a bulging disc in my neck. I have been experiencing sporadic pain, weakness and electrical sensations in both my arms for a 7 months now. I thought my arms symptoms were related to my MS. Could my arm symptoms actually be related to the bulging disc in my neck?
Both the disc bulging in your neck and MS can cause pain and weakness in the arms so it is difficult to know exactly which of them is the cause. In the case of a disc bulging, it is generally treated with pain killers like Ibuprofen and Paracetamol and physiotherapy, so I would advice you to pursue these.
Meanwhile you will need to talk with your doctor that follows you for the MS and explain your symptoms. Examinations can be done (MRI) to see if plaques are developing in the spine at the level that might cause arm pain and weakness.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
