Noted your history about pain in and around ear and missing balance that is vertigo. The cause may be so obvious as there is pain in ear and have vertigo indicating the cause in the semicircular canals responsible for balance to be affected. This can be diagnosed easily by the following ways: Consult an ENT Surgeon for clinical evaluation, examination. CT and MRI of the brain and mastoids will give the probable cause like mastoiditis, inner ear involvement by inflammation and so on. There can be cholesteatoma or glomus tumor. Other relevant tests like Audiometry and so on must be undergone. Once a proper diagnosis is made it will decide the course of management both medical and surgical.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
