What Causes Pain Around The Knee While Recovering From Ankle Dislocation?
Hi, I m a 22 year old male recovering from a dislocated ankle and a broken fibula that required surgery. I have a plate going up the outside ankle with 6-7 screws in it. My problem now is a constant ache at the top of the plate closest to my knee. also there is a fairly large bump at the top of the plate as well. I have another follow up with my surgeon in a week. But until then I need to know if my physiotherapist should be squeezing this thing like its a kink in my back. Doesn t seem to be helping any it just hurts like hell when she does it.
Since you have a follow-up appointment already booked, wait & get physically examined by your treating surgeon.
You are suggested to get Imaging tests done first to locate the factor (pathology) causing you discomfort at present. It looks like squeezing is not fixing your problem.
For pain, you can take NSAIDS (Combiflam), one sos when required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
