What Causes Pain Around The Navel?

Hello, I have pain in my mid-right abdomen level with my belly button that feels somewhat like a side ache. The pain comes and goes and feels very sharp and I have noticed it for the past few months. I had my gallbladder out five years ago and sometimes with this pain come pain in the upper right quadrant that I would have attributed to my gallbladder, except I don t have one. I have previously had ovarian cysts that ruptured but that was before I had children, my oldest is 11. I had a hysterectomy in 2010 so I m not sure if a cyst is still a possible culprit or if it is less likely now. The pain is becoming more frequent and annoying. Thanks for any advice.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

As a first line management you can take analgesics like paracetamol or aceclofenac for pain relief.

If symptoms persists better to consult a general surgeon and plan for an ultrasound scan.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
