Hi,
Pain around the belly button or the
umbilicus could be of various causes. I have faced so many cases with similar complaint and diagnosis varies with case to case. Before I give you the possible causes here are the questions that need to be addressed:
1) Is she having pain after food or before food?
2) Is her urine output normal?
3) Is she having
constipation or diarrhea?
4) Is she having nausea?
5) Does she have a fever? (will suggest an infective cause)
Now let's see some of the causes of pain around the navel, it can be due to
1) Ulcer (Peptic or gastric)
2) An
umbilical hernia (if she has a bulge in the abdominal area)
3) Constipation
4)
Appendicitis
5) UTI
6) Acute
gastroenteritis
7) Food
poisoning
8) Renal stone (This pain has a tendency to be colicky in nature.)
Here are a few measures you can do now. I will go with a Hyoscine based drug than going for drugs like Tylenol which can relieve pain but it won't be as effective as other drugs targeted for abdominal cramps.
1) Give her soft bland diet.
2) Don't lay down immediately after food.
3) Avoid spicy foods.
4) Deworm her once with a suitable deworming tablet (Anthelminthics).
5) Give her Hyoscine based
abdominal pain reliever.
If her pain still didn't subside its time to get an appointment to a General Practitioner, she will have to undergo a physical examination and get a USG done.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
