What Causes Pain Around The Waist On The Left Side?
Hello Dr. runners, My husband is 51 years old and is experiencing a dull but steady pain in the left side of his torso- right around waist high. The pain came on gradually about 3 hours ago. Seems to be getting slightly worse. He did move some heavy boxes earlier today, but he says it doesn t feel like a muscular strain. Nor does it feel like a digestive issue. Can you tell me what he may be dealing with? Thank you, Kim
Hi, The way you describe it I think it is a muscle spasm or pull due to lifting of the heavy weight. He may take Omeprazole 20 mgs and follow up with Ibuprofen 400mgs after meals. If the pain reduces, he can take the same twice a day for three days. He can also use a pain balm locally. If not better after two doses, I would suggest you show him to your doctor to rule out other causes. Regards
