What Causes Pain At Biopsy Site Post Liver Needle Biopsy?
about two weeks ago i had a liver needle biopsy and am still experiencing internal pain at the biopsy site. there are no other symptoms. why is the pain lasting so long -- the pain only occurs when either i breath deeply or move in an unusual way. Please answer. i am 81 years old. R U There?
Usually pain settles with in one to two weeks but may take a little longer if any associated bony tissue injury or nerve is pierced during the procedure or sometimes liver capsule can take a little longer to heal, however local post intervention infection should be ruled out on local examination as well as in ultrasound if needed. Internal bleeding or surrounding tissue injury should also be ruled out on ultrasound and if unremarkable may need CT abdomen if pain persists beyond 4 weeks post procedure. Meanwhile OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen may be helpful for symptomatic relief.
Wishing you a speedy recovery. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
