What Causes Pain At Blood Withdrawal Site?
I ve been donating blood for 36 years, at least 10 years on the Alyx machine. Today something very painful happened where the saline didn t go back into my vein. Apparently it went up under the skin. It hurt like crazy and I still feel weak and drained from whatever happened when I donated about 5 hours ago. I have refrained from using the arm and am icing it. How the heck did that happen? And should I feel fine in the morning? I am well hydrated.

after injection of saline into the skin the pain recepter are activated due stretch and pressure which transmit signal to central nervous system and make it aware of the stimulus that there is something unwanted going on inside the skin.this pressure may also cause some ischemia which is defiency of oxygen to that area.this problem will also cause contraction of the muscle nearby so u should move now ur are properly so that complet fluid which is present there get absorb and it will take aprox. 3 days and will b ok
