What Causes Pain At The Bottom Of Esophagus?

Yes, thank you. I tried to run a mile in 8 minutes twice today. I have to run tomorrow morning to make a high school sports team. I've been jogging outside all summer -- no problems. Today ... both times, I got this horrible pain at the bottom of my esophagus. It caused me to gag -- thought I was going to throw up -- and I had to stop running at .5 mile the first time. I barely finished this second time and the pain left me gagging on finish. What's up??

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I'm almost 16, female, 5'6", 130 lbs. No medical problems. Is it possible I'm just a little too "psyched" for tomorrow morning's run?

hello.
possibly because of low hydration and glucose level, this might have happened.
there's nothing to be worried about. just make sure you drink plenty of water and have good amount of glucose in your body before you go for jogging. I'm sure you won't feel like this again.

best regards,
Dr Gunjan
