What Causes Pain At The Surgical Site After A Total Knee Replacement Surgery?
I had tkr surgery 10 days ago. My staples have been removed. I am doing the rehab exercises and getting around with a walker and crutches. I fine that I am stronger daily. The last couple of nights I have had muscle spasms in my operated leg (right) Last night my leg lifted and bent at the knee by itself. It hurt but after it was fine. Is this normal? General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
It takes about 6 months time to get normal movements after surgery. The cramps were due to the stress the muscles had with physiotherapy& they would reduce day by day.
The automatic flexion with the cramp was alright but do not do it volentorily before the healing is complete. Please be in touch with your operating surgeon.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale
