General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Pain at the back of the ear and that causes a clicking noise can also be due to temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

It is important that you have a check to see if you have problems with TMJ and which may be the cause of these. Sometimes, dental splits may be needed to prevent clenching teeth at night or physiotherapy may be necessary to treat TMJ problems.

I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
