Hello,
You are suffering from pain behind the ear. Pain behind the ear may be indicative of infections,
otitis media, impacted earwax, dental problems,
TMJ disorder,
mastoiditis, and
nerve irritation, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by an ENT or GP, your treating doctor will take culture / specimen from your middle or outer ear to detect bacterial infection and required blood tests to be done.
If required you will be asked to do X-ray, repeat CT and if diagnosis is still uncertain you will be asked to do an MRI. You will be accordingly treated. Commonly such symptoms occur due to Otitis media and are treated with a course of
Augmentin orally and pain relieving medicine like naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed.
Mastoiditis is treated with intravenous antibiotics and surgical drainage of the infected fluid. You are suggested not to touch your ears, do not scratch or pick. Get clinically assessed and treated at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
