Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain Behind Eyes During Physical Exercise In A Teenager?
I had my 15 year old son in the ER tonight. They did a CT scan, which came back perfect. He plays varsity football & during his current Spring season, prior to any contact, he is experiencing pain behind his eyes when bench pressing & this week, when making contact in pads & helmet.
A few causes of pain behind the eyes are migraine headache, cluster headaches, dengue fever, glaucoma, trigeminal neuralgia, and Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome (THS) as a unilateral and episodic orbital pain associated with paralysis of one or more of the third, fourth and/or sixth cranial nerves.
Thorough clinical examination is necessary and few tests are to be run to identify the specific cause and for appropriate treatment. Please do consult a physician or an eye specialist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
