What Causes Pain Behind The Ear While Suffering From Bell's Palsy?

I have had two Bells Palsy episodes in my life. The frist when I was 15 the second when I was 26, I am now 31 and fear that I maybe getting ready to have a third. Today I started getting that massive pain behind my ear and was wondering if there are pre- warning signs of a flare up?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain behind the ear while suffering from Bell's Palsy which seems to be due to traumatic injury to facial nerve and nerve impingement. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to apply warm compresses and maintaining proper asepsis. Visit oral physician once and get it examined completely and start treatment accordingly. You should take Gabapentin and start facial muscle physical therapy. do mouth stretching exercises. You should take proper course of anti inflammatory painkillers. Avoid touching and picking again and again and maintain hygiene.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
