What Causes Pain Behind The Knee?

Mother in law has lymphademea. She is treated with compression hose. They have gone down 100cm. Today she has a tiny place not as big as a pin head behind her knee that is beginning to leak. The edema clinic is closed. Is there anything to do other than bandage it?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It may be due to osteoarthritis which is nothing but the wear and tear of your knee-joint.

As a first line management, you can take analgesics like Tramadol for pain relief. Apply over the counter Diclofenac creams also.

If pain persists, better to consult an Orthopedician and be evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
