What Causes Pain Behind The Left Knee?

I am experiencing pain on the inside of my left knee and behind it. I can also feel the pain up the leg behind my thigh at times. I feel it when I have been sitting for a period of time and go to get up, I feel like I need to slowly straighten my knee when I begin to walk or if I am just getting out of bed. I have more pain after a run (not so much during the run). Could it be a ligament, torn, inflamation?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description of knee pain, possibility of ligamental or meniscus injury is more likely.
So consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of affected knee joint.
You may need need bedrest with painkillers and anti inflammatory drugs.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
