What Causes Pain Behind The Neck And Swollen Lymph Nodes Under The Chin?

Hi I ve recently been in a car accident about one week ago initially just a little pain on the back of my neck towards my back and today I woke up with pain under my jaw and swollen lymph nodes by my ear under my chin. I ve read that it could just be whiplash or that it could be some form of cancer.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about the submandibular swelling (lympadenopathy).
As you said it was sudden and painful, it can't be cancerous because secondarily malignant lympadenopathy is stony hard, painless and slowly grown. You don't need to worry too much.

There must be a wound or pimple on same side of face from scalp to chin or infection of teeth, tongue or ear.
You need to visit a dentist or ENT specialist for further evaluation. During mean time you should take antibiotics like Ofloxicin 200 mg daily for 5 days. if you are not allergic to it.
Hope my answer will help.
Regards
Dr Muzaffar
