Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi I am 7 weeks pregnant and have an under active thyroid. I have a pain in my left side by the bottom of my ribs which i think is my spleen. Could this be connected to lack of thyroxine? I am concerns that my levels havent been checked since i ve become pregnant.
Levothyroxine does not cause the pain that you explained, but I would suggest checking the TSH level every four weeks during pregnancy. It is very important for the development of the baby and the outcome of pregnancy to keep normal hormonal levels and adjust the dose of levothyroxine properly. I would suggest and abdominal ultrasound for the pain you reported.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mirjeta Guni
