Hi,
Both these medicines
Orofer as well as
Shelcal might cause some irritation of
esophagus as well as gastric irritation, while taken by oral route. Due to this irritation of food pipe and stomach, there may be a feeling of pain below the
rib cage and a feeling of difficulty of breathing.
This may be avoided by not taking these empty stomach and only to be taken just after meals. Also, spicy and chilly food, excessive tea, coffee etc. use of alcohol and
smoking is to be avoided for the relief from irritation of esophagus and stomach and thus, helping in minimizing the symptoms of esophageal and gastric irritation by Orofer and Shelcal.
In very difficult cases, a short term use of ant acids might be required, however taking care that use of antacids may reduce the absorption of these drugs and hence there is a need to space the use of these drugs & ant acids at least with a difference of 4-6 hours.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
