What Causes Pain Below Ribs And Upper Abdomen Along With Weight Loss?
I have been having pain on the left hand side just below the ribs and on top of the stomach. There are times I just cant find a comfortable position and have spoken to Dr several times. He is unsure what it can be. Recently I started vomiting bile that is deep yellow in color occassionly while sleeping. I wake up choking and then mt throat, ears and nose burn for about an hour or so. Now i Have noticed weight loss about six to eight pounds in approximatly last two weeks. Do you have any suggestions of what may be causing these symptoms?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Dr. Ali's Response
These symptoms you have mentioned are quite alarming to me. But without asking about more symptoms looking for signs through examination and without laboratory and radiological assessment its hard to comment. If this problem is acute like for a day or two it can be gastroenteritis, some blockage in intestine, tyohoid, cholera. but if its bothering you for many days get a thorough check up and investigations like blood complete picture, liver function test, serum lipase and amylase and x-ray abdomen, ultrasound abdomen. Then it will be clear what you are suffering from.
