What Causes Pain Below Sternum?

For the past few years I have had sporadic attacks of pain below my sternum. I recently had an ultrasound done to check for gallstones. That came back negative. I m being referred to a GI specialist but curious what else could be causing the pain.

your pain could be due to simple gastritis ...GI specialist will do an endoscopy to conirm it...no need to panic..
