What Causes Pain Below The Rib Cage After Passing A Kidney Stone?

My husband passed a significant kidney stone on Tuesday with a good bit of blood loss. He is still hurting in his back below his rib cage on the right side with a little swelling. Can this be from the stone or maybe more that have not passed? His pain is pretty rough.

Hello,

Your husband has to do an ultrasound to see if there is another stone or not. Sometimes the pain is due to trauma and needs some time to resolve. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be used as pain medication if there is no contraindication to its use. If further pain medication is needed, stronger narcotic pain medications recommended.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
