What Causes Pain From The Armpit To The Centre Of The Chest?
My wife is experiencing pain in her chest region, but it is starting in her armpit area then traveling towards the center of her chest. She is 57 years old and does experience gas from time to time which is usually relieved by burping. She has taken some Tums and I just went to the stode and bought her some Extra Strength Mylanta. Still experiencing the pain, with only occasional burps to slightly relieve the symptoms. Thanks.
The possible causes can be as follows: Nerve entrapment either at the spinal area or on the way to the chest. GERD that is gastroesophageal reflux disease. This can be diagnosed by the following: Clinical evaluation by a Doctor and second opinion of a Neurologist and/or Gastroenterologist. You may need further investigations to support the diagnosis: MRI of the spine, particularly of thoracic region. Local examination, ultrasonography of armpit to know any mass or so. Tests of blood. Upper GI Endoscopy. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus allow a proper plan of management. Also check for any lump or cancer in the same-sided breast. If present can be due to cancer of the breast that has spread to the lymph nodes present in the armpit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
