What Causes Pain From The Body’s Right Side To The Lower Back?
I am having pain in my right side, and it travels to different parts of my back from the middle to the lower part of the back. Really hurts when i am sleeping and turn from my side to my back some times the pain is shooting pain. What could be the cause of this?
Shooting pain is commonly neurological in origin (nerve related). There are different causes of nerve-related pain and you may need to consider seeing your doctor find the exact cause for you.
Common causes include:
(1) Trauma to the nerves, e.g. changes to the bones or muscle surrounding the nerves, e.g. arthritis of a joint.
(2) Low levels of vitamin B12 or folate.
(3) Diabetes.
(4) The side effect of a medication.
(5) Thyroid disease.
(6) Abnormal levels of vitamin B6.
(7) Neurological conditions such as MS, stroke etc.
(8) Infection such as shingles.
Physical examination and blood tests would be needed to find the exact cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James,
