What Causes Pain From The Groin Area To The Knees?

I have what appears to a cyatic problem. Pain is shooting into groin area , and front thigh down to knee. This morning a different pain was starting in and below knee. This felt like needles.. any advise? I have an appt. tomorrow with Dr, , but was debating on going to ER today..

if there is rapid progression in your complaint or there is a history of trauma in the back , you need to go to emergency room to assess your condition
