What Causes Pain From The Hip To The Toes?

I have left hip . Pain that radiates to my toes. After three xrays,an M R I and 4 office visits I have 4 diagnosis: greater trochanter bursitis, DISH; compression at L4/5, or a cyst at S1. Treatment plan is an epidural injection in the sacrum ; PT. And an electric nerve conductivity study. Is this the right direction or is it overkill???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
i can understand your concern. your symptoms most probably are due to compression at l4,l5 . other reasons also lead to pain but they are usually localised at the site rather than radiating to toes. cyst can be surgically removed
your doctr has rightly suggested epidural steroid injections and physiotherapy this would help in reduction of pain.
if there is no relief, surgery to remove the intervertebral disc can be planned.

hope i have answered your query. have a nice day
