What Causes Pain In Abdomen And During Urination Post Miscarriage?

My doctor confirmed that I am having a miscarriage.. this is second one this year. I was 6 weeks and had no problem last time. I was fine for 24 hours and he told me to stop taking progestrone so I did. Since about noon today I have had so much pain in my abdomen and when I try to urinate it hurts so bad i want to cry. I do not have a temperature and cannot really move or get in a comfortable position. It is not an ectopic pregnancy because we already ruled that out. Is this pain normal and the urinating pain too?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are having pain in the abdomen during urination post miscarriage. Sorry to hear that this is your second miscarriage this year. Miscarriages are painful. Some of the miscarriages pass on their own while some of them need medical aid and treatment. Your symptoms of severe pain and restlessness are indicative of incomplete miscarriage.

In incomplete miscarriage no bleeding is noticed until the hormone levels of the woman decrease, which triggers the uterine lining to shed. In incomplete miscarriage bleeding may begin, but the tissue is still embedded in the uterus thus causing pain. Sometimes the tissue gets dispelled from the body naturally. Some women, however, require medical intervention to treat the miscarriage.

You are suggested to get admitted at ER and get clinically examined for your condition so that you can help urgent medical aid to ease pain and discomfort. Neglect may cause severe pain, prolonged bleeding, risk of infection, etc. Do not take stress get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
