What Causes Pain In Abdomen Radiating Into Back And Leg?

Hello, My husband s liver enzymes are normal except the GGT (125). Has an Hx of Sarcoid and a fabily Hx of Heart disease (father). Angeogenesis blood test normal. Recently C/o dull abdominal pain radiating to his back (R) side. Sometimes the middel of his back. Also has an Hx of Slipped discs and has been C/o of (l) leg pain on the side not calf and a burning sentation which he describes as painful. Diabetis under control without meds. All hepatic tests , Hepatitis panels are negative. Vitamin B12 is elevated (1251). Should he have an abdominal CT to R/o any issues with the Pancreas? His leg pain is not being addressed and he has pain every day. Is is Nerve or vascular related? Should he see a spine specialist to address the beack pain?

Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the pain in center of upper abdomen, radiating to back with sharp quality may be of concern with pancreas condition, where one may get raised GGT report as well.

* However, this pain does not radiate to the legs in most instances.

* The sciatic with nerve compression is the most common cause of pain over back radiating to legs of either side.

* In my opinion, it is must to get a CT scan of abdomen and pelvis as well as MRI spine for the resolution of both conditions in best possible sound way.

* Till that time, control of body weight and assisted physiotherapy will help you best possible way.
