What Causes Pain In Arm In Site Of PIC Line?

Hi, I was recently hospitalized for pancreatitis, and had a pic line. In my right arm , above the elbow...on the inside of the fatty part of the arm. It had a a little an ( uncovered ) part.. the band aide was not covering. I pointed this out to the nurse after and asked her to clean it and make sure it didn t get infected. She said it was fine. It did get cleaned couple days later... there was no redness or soreness during the whole hosp. stay.. 5 days. The day after I got home my arm started hurting, really bad. I iced it. thinking I slept on it wrong. I have elevated it. It is still hurting a lot! There is no redness, it is not warm to the touch and I cannot really tell if there is any swelling... but, it still hurts a lot! What should I do?

Good evening. Well you need to get it checked up with a nurse. Sometimes with PIC line it does happen that it will get twisted , that is may deviate from it s normal position. That can can cause swelling of the vein. Just get it checked once, cause if the swelling forms, it will obstruct the flow of PIC line. Hope the information was useful.
