What Causes Pain In Arms And Legs Along With Weakness In The Hands?

My 30 year old son started w/ scrotal pain and swelling & had an ultrasound. The Dr. said all looked okay, but ordered antibiotic & Ibuprofen for epididymitis. He was advised to use ice, rest, and wear supportive underwear. After 2 days of following regimen, his pain in that area has subsided, but now he is experiencing muscle pain in arms & legs and noticeable weakness in his hands. This does not sound like epididymitis. What else could be going on? Could he be having a reaction to abx.?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

For workup of bilateral weakness of limbs, an appointment with a neurologist should be done.

He will perform a complete neurological examination and some investigations like MRI head & Spine, Nerve conduction studies, etc to confirm the cause. Treatment depends upon the results of tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ivan R. Rommstein, General Surgeon
