Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
my partner and i have been together for 48 years.Recently we had a holiday over seas that finished in New York, where we did a lot of walking and after about 4 days Helen started to develop leg pains above and below the knees more down the sides of the legs.We flew home to Brisbane from New York which took 26 hours with a 3 hour break in the middle.Pain and stiffness in the legs got a lot worse over the next 2 days and the her fingers in both hands started to swell. We thought it might be just Yetlag so Helen had physio on her legs which bought no relief then went to her doctor has had 2 blood tests which shed no light on her condition. The doctor ruled out rheumatoid arthritis but has got her to make an appointment with a rheumatoid arthritis specialist.Helen is in good health, she still works 3 days a week and walks for 40 minutes 3 or 4 times a week.Your help would be greatly appreciated.Robert Daniel
As you have already ruled out rheumatoid arthritis and now she is perfectly alright. So i don't think that you may need rheumatologist opinion. Earlier pain may be due to vigorous walking. Do regular exercise.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.Thank you.
