Hello,
You seem to be suffering from acute
cervical spondylitis with nerve impingement leading to pain and numbness in upper arm. To those who come to me with similar complaints, i do suggest the following:
1) Pain relieving medication like NSAIDs Ibuprofen or Naproxen to be taken twice daily for 2 weeks.
2) To prevent gastric irritation, tab. Pantop 40 mg to be taken once daily for 2 weeks before food.
3) If NSAIDs are not indicated as in bleeding disorders and severe
peptic ulcer disease, opioids like hydrocodone, oxycodone and Tramadol can be used twice daily for 2 weeks.
4) Soft
cervical collar is indicated to be worn all the time except while sleeping.
5) After pain reduction,
physical therapy to strengthen the neck muscles is indicated.
If your pain doesn't subside with above treatment even after 1 week, you may need to
consult a spine surgeon or a neurosurgeon.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
