What Causes Pain In Chest And Arm While Suffering From High BP?
I have been having pain in my chest area, and my arms will both hurt, but are kind of numb. It is hard to take a really deep breath at times. I cough a little but not a lot. I have high blood pressure sometimes as high as 240 /130 and my pulse runs between 98-106, but last night it was 79 and Bp was 171/99. Right now it is 186/113 and pulse is 93. The pain subsides when I take an 800mg IBU And a 5mg Valium. But it comes and goes every few hours. Is this something I should be concerned about? My BP is untreated at the moment. I am female and 60.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. You are having a high blood pressure which should be treated. This BP can increase to much work load on heart and cause decrease in blood supply to heart. So the pain can be due to this. It can stimulate a heart attack. So better to consult your physician to get it treated. You will need combination two hypertensive drugs at least to get your BP controlled. I would suggest a combination of Angiotensin receptor blocker and a diuretic. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear. Thanks.
