Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I experience aches and pain in different parts of my body every now and then.Fortunately they do not last long.As I have a good level of pain tolerance I do not take anything to treat the pain.Is it due to my elevated ESR. I also tend to get cramps in my feet when I do a lot of work while standing for which I take magnesium as suggested by my Doctor.Since I am turning 70 years shortly I feel these are related to old age. Please let me know whether these can be life threatening and need to be treated medically. Thank you.
Hi, Pain and aches in different parts of the body is not very common in the elderly. None of them which causes like these could be life threatening. However, I am worried, whether I am looking at a condition called as 'Fibromyalgia'
Fibromyalgia present with chronic widespread musculoskeletal pain, stiffness and disturbed sleep. It is more common in females.
Your neurologist will evaluate you based on history and tender points and if positive, might start you on treatment. ESR is elevated in anemia and chronic inflammation commonly. Get your Hemoglobin tested, if normal meet neurologist to rule out fibromyalgia.
