Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a very full feeling in one ear with intermittent pain that radiates up from my jaw. I ve been cleared by a dentist as to any issues there, had my ears flushed for excess wax, had antibiotic drops to clear an infection inthe outer canal and taken amoxycillin for something more inside. Also taking generic claritan for seasonal allergies and it was suggested to take nasocort or flonase also, which I ve done (nasacort)- one spray in each nostril every 12 hours.
Noted your history of having pain and fullness in one ear being referred to upper jaw, Dentist cleared up the dental cause, cleaned wax, taking Amoxicillin, and Claritan. The commonest causes of such pain are as follows: Otitis Externa means edema of the skin of ear canal. TM joint arthralgia. Upper impacted molar. Trigeminal Neuralgia. LOcal causes, referred pain from tonsillar area. Hence I would advise you the following: Consult an ENT Surgeon for proper clinical evaluation, examination and Endoscopy. CT scan or MRI if needed can show any hidden cause. Once a proper diagnosis is done you will be prescribed additional specific medications and will be told about precautions.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
