Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 57 years old and have been having some problems with my fingers occasionally having mild pain in my finger joints and my middle fingers locking up when making a fist, Also feel pain at my elbow when this is happening. Seems to be the worst when waking up. The more use during the day seems to get much better.
Hello and thank you for the question! There are different causes that cause joints pain such as Rheumatoid Athritis or Osteoarthritis.RA usually affects the wrist and the finger joints. Also, joints are more warm and tender, are affected symmetrically, deformities in finger joints and cause morning stiffnes, fatigue and stressed life.Rheumatoid Athritis is an autoimune disease that has an effect on the cells that coat and lubricate joints (synovial tissue).I would suggest you to do some tests:blood test(especially Rheumatoid Factor,Fibrinogen and PCR),genu and hand x rays.If these tests result altered, consult a doctor because you may need to start medications! Best regards.
