Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have pain in the top of my hand and it s causing pain into my fingers, it hurts to make a fist or hold onto anything. I recently saw a doctor because of spasms in my back that was causing shooting pain down my arm. Any idea what could be causing the pain in my hand?
Hi There are many causes of finger, hand, or wrist problems and the commonest are Injuries Carpal tunnel syndrome(nerve compression at the wrist) Tendon pain Writers cramps - repeated hand or finger motion such as writing or typing Rheumatoid arthritis
The relationship of your back pain and shooting pain down on arm needs to be ruled out. Some times due to nerve compression this may be co-related
Apply cold compression if the pain is very acute or hot fomentation if it is a long standing pain
please see the orthopedic surgeon, probably an MRI of back could be advised and can do regular finger and wrist movements and apply some lubrication oil and massage gently
Wish You Good Health
