What Causes Pain In Fingers While Bending Them?

Hi. 3 days ago I woke up with extreme pain in all my fingers, both hands, from the beginning of the fingers (MCP joint) all the way to the tips… It is mostly when I try to bend them; and the pain is extreme when I bend them, I cannot even close them completely as into a fist. Any ideas on why this would onset so quickly?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Your symptoms can be related to rheumatoid arthritis which is one of the common causes of finger pain in our daily practice.
I suggest to do an xray if the hands and a rheumatoid factor level for further evaluation.
Meanwhile,I suggest using anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the pain.
Cold compresses can also be helpful.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
