What Causes Pain In Foot And Swelling In Ankle?

Left foot pain when rolling through a step. pain is on outside bottom, and behind first and second toe. X-rays do not indicate joint damage or fracture. I m sure i didn t injure it. Started suddenly, does not change with rest. Second toe is hammered due to poor healing of a fracture about 6 yrs. ago. Swelling at ankle and foot. Blood pressure meds keep BP good. Weight stays the same. Diabetes type 1 under control with A1C in the 7 range.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.
I've gone through your query and I can understand your anxiety.

Your symptoms might be due to "Joint sprain" or ligament injury, bursitis etc.
I advice you to,
- Analgesics (Acetaminophen) twice & tab. Seropeptidase thrice daily
- Take any antacid along with each dose
- Avoid ibuprofen, aspirin as they might slow down the healing process
- Bed rest & don't overstrain the affected area
- Ice pack to relieved of pain & swelling
- Elevate the foot end of left leg.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,

Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
