Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a brostrom procedure 2 weeks ago. I have had absolutely no pain until now. I was placed in an aircast today instead of a fiberglass walking cast due to some cast phobia. I was given permission to ambulate. My toes and the ball of my foot are hurting no matter how much I loosen the strap across the top of my foot. Is that a matter of getting used to the boot or is there a problem? I hessitate to take the boot all the way off just yet since it was just put on.
Yes, in the beginning, some times with walking boots, one can feel awkward or difficult to walk because it has a rocker sole with no bends on the toes. The problems usually resolves itself after being used to. But if the problem of hurting persists or some swelling, numbness or blueness of toes occur, then you are advised to see your orthopedist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
