Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For some months now I have had pain in my hand daily. I have began to notice in the last month, when I have this pain I have bulging veins also. It makes it hard for me to do things like open doors, jars, even carry a bag etc. It is only in my right hand. Any suggestions? Thanks.
What I understand from the history is that you have got motor weakness and pain in hand. I suspect this to be a spinal nerve root Entrapment in the cervical spine region. Taking an MRI scan of the cervical spine will help us to understand the soft tissue changes in the cervical spine and allows to guide you with proper set of exercises for strengthening the upper Limb and the neck muscles.
Also I will advice you to use soft cervical collar to avoid any kind of entrapment happening. In my clinical practice for a 12 years most of the people with nerve root Entrapment have complaint with reduction in the hand motor functions and pain in the hand region. most of the patients respond well to soft collar hot water fomentation and neck exercises.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
