General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

He should consider seeing a neurologist to have nerve conduction tests done.

It is possible that there is nerve compression in certain hand positions that then results in pain.

There are tests that can show if there is any abnormal function of the nerves in this area.

His doctor should be able to refer him to a neurologist or his local hospital.
He can also find one online if he wishes.

I hope this helps
