What Causes Pain In Hip?

Hi! I have constant cramping in my right hip, worse at night, limited range of motion if the joint is abducted and i try to raise my foot, i.e. to tie my shoe. It has been 2 months now. Do not currently have a PCP. Should I continue trying to rest the joint or seek help?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The pain you describe can be due to sciatica or arthritis of the hip joint. Because the pain has been there for more than 6 weeks, it is best to have a check to identify the cause.

A check of your lower spine, a neurological exam of the foot and hip examination with an x-ray of the hip if possible would be very helpful.
After such tests and examinations, the doctor will have an understanding of the cause of your symptoms and further treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
