Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When I open my mouth to yawn or try to eat the left side of my jaw click and make loud sounds and it hurts really bad it's been going on for about 6 months what should I do or who should I see about it my dentist are my primary physician is very painful
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain and presentation of symptoms pain in jaw on opening mouth and clicking sound indicates Temporomandibular joint disorder which is disorder associated to jaw joint. Other cause can be arthritic changes in the jaw joint.. You should consult an oral physician and get evaluated and get a full mouth x ray known as ORTHOPANTOMOGRAM [OPG] done so that the exact cause can be diagnosed..
As of now do warm compresses over the jaw joint and take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
