What Causes Pain In Knee Upon Bending After A Knee Cartilage Arthroscopy?

Hello I had knee cartilage arthroscopy about 7 months ago. Now I have full mobility in the knee but when I bend and straighten the knee I have pain and I hear some sounds (sometimes one loud pop without pain when I bend the knee). When I compare the knees, i see that the patella in my left knee is more back than the patella in the right knee. Please help me to solve this. Bye :)

Hi,

It is not uncommon to experience pain and popping sounds after knee cartilage arthroscopy, especially during the recovery period. This can be due to inflammation or irritation in the knee joint, or due to scar tissue formation after the surgery. However, if the pain persists and is affecting your daily activities, it is important to consult with your doctor to rule out any underlying issues.

The difference in the position of the patella between your left and right knees may also contribute to your symptoms. The patella is a small bone that sits in front of the knee joint and helps with movement. If it is not properly aligned, it can cause pain and discomfort during movement.

Your doctor may recommend physical therapy or exercises to improve the strength and flexibility of the muscles surrounding the knee joint. In some cases, surgery may be necessary to correct the position of the patella or remove any scar tissue that may be causing pain and stiffness.

It is important to follow your doctor's recommendations for post-operative care and rehabilitation to minimize any complications and ensure a full recovery.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
