Small pain on the left chest area above below the breast. I m male 26 years old, 167cm height, 90kg weight(I gained 13 Kg in the last year) and a smoker, 10-15 cigarettes per day. I had this pain for about 2 years now but it s not much so i have not visited a doctor about it. Just to be safe i wanted to know what kind of a specialist should i visit for a diagnosis?

Hi Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM .
Read and reviewed your query and health concerns.
You seems to suffer from-?Obesity with Angina with smoking.
Combination of overweight, with gain in weight by 13 kgs lately with smoking would add to hypertensive cardiac strain which would present as -Chest pain in left chest around nipple.Sweating, feeling of vibration in the chest and head, dizziness attacks would clinch diagnosis of hypertension.Weight reduction with Statins treatment would lower chances of Angina with IHD(Ischemic Heart disease) or LVH(left Ventricular Hypertrophy) in your case
Other causes- as costochondritis/dyslipidemia with angina/GERD with IBS need to be kept in mind and ruled out.
To come out of this chest pain, I would suggest you to Consult-Cardiologist and nutritionist who would work as team to reduce the body weight /obesity and accompanied dyslipidemia, so as to resolve the health issues you have.

Hope this would help you to plan further care of this complex illness of yours.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
Since you are active smoker and overweight, we should definitely rule out heart related chest pain first because cardiac pain commonly occur in left side of chest.
So consult cardiologist and get done ecg, 2d echo.
If both these are normal then no need to worry for heart diseases.
Sometimes, musculoskeletal pain can also cause similar symptoms.
So avoid heavyweight lifting and strenuous exercise. Avoid movements causing pain. Avoid bad postures in sleep. Take painkiller like ibuprofen.
And please quit smoking as soon as possible, it is not a good habit.
And also loose weight and stay fit and healthy.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
