Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey, so last night I had a slight pain in my lower left lung when I breathed. I was tired and ignored it, rolled over and went back to sleep. When I woke up I didn t remember it. Now I m laying in bed again watching stand up comedy and I m laughing and I feel the same pain I felt last night and I remember it again. It doesn t hurt like a sharp pain just like something isn t right in my body. So I look at my chest and my lower left hand side of my ribs looks like it s indented. I m not sure what to do about it or what it is.
The pain you describe sounds most likely to be from a muscle or cartilage between the ribs, which is causing pain when you take a deep breath or laugh. As long as you are not having any other symptoms such as shortness of breath or fever, it wouldn't be anything to worry about, I would only suggest taking Paracetamol or Ibuprofen, and you could also apply a warm pad to the area. If it persisted beyond a week or so, you should probably see a doctor about it, but I would expect that it will resolve on its own within the next couple of days.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
