Hi,
Most
low back pain is caused by an injury like muscle strains or sprains due to sudden movements or poor body mechanics especially during lifting and daily household activities or soft tissue injuries or an underlying condition, like sciatica. So, low back pain may result from underlying causes such as strains or sprains,
herniated disc, sciatica from herniated disc,
spinal canal stenosis, abnormal spine curvatures like scoliosis, kyphosis, lordosis etc, arthritis, spondylitis, lumbar degenerative change,
fibromyalgia, kidney problems, UTI, pregnancy etc.
Treatment depends on causes. You should undergo some investigations like CBC with ESR, CRP, X-ray
lumbar spine, CT scan or MRI of spine, urine R/M/E, USG of W/A etc to find out the underlying causes for your lower and mid back area and then treat them accordingly.
In the meantime, you can take painkillers like ibuprofen, naproxen or aceclofenac with baclofen and calcium plus vitamin D supplements with vitamin B complex supplements and wear a brace that will support and protect your back.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Zubayer Alam, General and Family Physician,
