Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Pain In Lower Back And Left Hip Post An Injury?
I have a history of traumatic head injury(Dec 06) followed by craniotomy(Dec 06), pseudomeningocele(Jan 07) and cranioplasty(Aug;07). I had back pain started in 2008 and kept coming and going for last few years. Last week I had lower back pain including left hip. Had my LS spine- anterior lateral x-ray- showed loss of lumber lordosis, degenerative changes and sclerotic SI joints. My question is who I should visit- an orthopaedic or a neurologist? Thanks.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
I feel you should consult a spine surgeon/orthopedic doctor first. This would help you to tackle with basic cause about the loss of lordosis & bone degeneration, which needs attention first.
Management of basic cause (physiotherapy with medicines for bone rejuvenation & temporary pain management /surgery) would relieve pressure on nerves & solve the problem.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
